PUEO Awarded for Excellence in Summer Learning

The Clarence T.C. Ching PUEO Program at Punahou School was recognized by the National Summer Learning Association (NSLA) as a 2016 Excellence in Summer Learning Award winner. Award recipients were chosen for demonstrating excellence in accelerating academic achievement and prompting healthy development for low-income students.

Punahou President Jim Scott ’70, PUEO Director Carl Ackerman, PUEO Assistant Director Kylee Mar and others received the award during NSLA’s national conference in Seattle, Washington, on Oct. 25.

Punahou PUEO staff shared the award with outgoing DOE Superintendent Kathryn Matayoshi in a DOE Board meeting in Honolulu.
