Punahou is committed to making sustainability a part of every student’s learning experience. In addition to fostering a campus culture with sustainability at its core, Punahou has invested significantly in efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and to be a model for other schools in sustainable facilities design, programs and teaching philosophies. Punahou aspires to become a Net Zero school by 2025, consuming only as much energy as is produced on campus.
“As a community working together, the realization of the goal of Net Zero will have significant impact on our green-house gas emissions that will reverberate beyond our campus, benefiting the larger community and beyond.”
Academy faculty member Ian Earle ’89
