Alumni Celebration Draws a Lively Crowd

Hundreds of alumni from different classes convened on campus for Alumni Celebration on Thursday, June 8, 2017.

The evening started with self-guided tours of the Sidney and Minnie Kosasa Community. Alumni acquainted themselves with the new studios and learned how the buildings are supporting teaching philosophies.

They also caught a glimpse of the future via a student-made augmented reality application. While aiming iPads at a map of the construction overview, alumni could see the plans for the facilities currently under construction illustrated in 3-D renderings on the screen.

Later, alumni enjoyed a relaxing evening on the Academy Quad lawn, enjoying 'ono food and live music featuring the Punahou Jazz Big Band; Bus Boyz: Andy Bunn '86, Blair Sataraka '92, Marc Miyamoto '91, Toby San Luis '88 and Kepano Kekuewa; and Manoa DNA: Lloyd Kawakami '71, Nick Kawakami '01 and Alx Kawakami '04. There was also an alumni art exhibit as well as a student one.

It was certainly a wonderful evening under the stars!
