A Toast to 25 Years of Global Education at Punahou

Long-standing supporters of global education at Punahou gathered on July 20, 2018, to celebrate the end of Wo International Center’s 25th anniversary year. Guests included the Wo and Luke families, both of whom were instrumental in establishing the center – one of the first of its kind among U.S. high schools – and other significant donors who have helped to establish Punahou’s leadership in language, travel and cultural education. The family of architect John Hara ’57, who designed Wo International Center, was also present.

President Jim Scott ’70, together with Punahou Trustees Kitty Sullivan ’75 Wo, Greg Yim ’80 and Greg Dickhens ’87, led a champagne toast to celebrate Wo Center’s past accomplishments and many more decades of educating global citizens. Afterward, guests were invited to participate in the closing Lu’au dinner for the 2018 Student Global Leadership Institute, one of Wo Center’s signature programs that invites students from 22 schools in nine countries to Punahou’s campus each summer to develop collaborative problem-solving approaches to global issues.
