The Power Of Promise

Join Punahou in reimagining the future of education. Focusing on People, Place and Purpose, this campaign will draw upon our tradition of innovation to transform teaching and learning in Hawai‘i and beyond.

Donor Stories

Luanna Farden '56 and Peter McKenney

When Luanna Farden '56 and Peter McKenney chose to make a gift to Punahou to honor their late son David Ka'aumoana McKenney '83, they knew that it would bring certain themes together: land and water, learning, Hawaiian culture and joy.

Stories of Impact

The eager faces of children streaming into the winding woodchip trails of their new home each morning make the Sidney and Minnie Kosasa Neighborhood feel more like a wonderland than school. While bracketed by the normal rites and routines of school – snack-time, lunch and recess – the moments within these contours sparkle with childhood curiosity and joy.

People

People are Punahou’s greatest strength. From its talented students and passionate faculty to its loyal alumni and families, the Punahou ‘ohana is one of Hawai‘i’s most enduring and vibrant communities of learning. This campaign will help to ensure that all our students have the opportunity to thrive in a diverse learning environment; and by supporting the growth and professional renewal of our teachers.

Place

Few schools have a sense of place like Punahou. Sheltered by Manoa Valley and nourished by the waters of the New Spring, our breathtaking campus is a gift, treasured by generations of students and adults for nearly two centuries. Today, we are preparing for the future with thoughtful campus planning that enhances the landscape of learning so central to the Punahou experience.

Purpose

Punahou’s mission has always been to prepare children for life, in addition to college. Through a diversity of curricular and co-curricular choices that encompass world-class academics, arts, athletics and innovative real-world applications, Punahou’s breadth and depth taps into each child’s potential. Our students are distinguished by qualities like curiosity, passion, resilience, confidence, self-awareness and purpose – qualities that consistently produce leaders and innovators in every field.

Our Progress

It takes many hands and hearts to build a successful campaign, and our progress to-date is a snapshot of our community’s investment in the future of the School. All gifts matter and everyone who participates in the campaign is an essential part of its success.
